Programme Aim:
This is a half day course designed to provide the course participant with the appropriate knowledge of the risks and hazards when using abrasive wheels, it will also demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to mount abrasive wheels for angle grinders and bench grinders.
Programme Objectives:
At end of the training programme the candidates will have the knowledge to:
1. Be aware of what is in the abrasive wheel regulations 1982
2. Be aware of the causes of abrasive wheel accidents
3. Be aware of the risks and hazards of working with abrasive wheels
4. Be able to understand the information and markings on abrasive wheels
5. Be able to select the correct abrasive wheel for the job
6. Be able to inspect and test abrasive wheels and the machines using them
7. Recognise the need for the machine guards and correctly adjusting them
8. Select the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
9. Be able to dress and true the abrasive wheel
10. Be able to mount and the knowledge to use the angle grinder and bench grinder correctly
